ARTIST PROFILE

Kat Saturn is an artist from Portland, Oregon, specializing in digital collage design, pyrography (woodburning), and guerilla art/culturejamming. Her style reflects a lifelong obsession with mystery and hidden knowledge, as well as a reverence and curiosity for history and culture.

The "Ephemera Hermetica" and "Ephemera Aphotica" collage series combine advertising elements from pre-1923 issues of The Oregonian with images scanned from the pages of various alchemical, metaphysical, and scientific texts.

Older work reflects an interest in psychedelic and visionary art, compositing photographs with fractal and kaleidoscopic patterns to create unusual color effects and intriguing designs.

In 2017, she completed the short documentary "Gladys, Gone Again," telling the true story of a 1920's-era Portland bad girl. Later that year, she participated in the RAW: Fixate group art show.

She had her first solo show "Et In Arcana Ego" in October 2018 at Beulahland in Portland.

She also plays in the Handbell Choir at First Unitarian Church, and studies folk and classical Indian and Middle Eastern dance.
